Another chuckie cheese type of fun can be found at CJ Barrymore. CJ Barrymore is also located on Hall Road, but located east of Dave and Busters. CJ Barrymore has indoor and outdoor entertainment. From games to bumper cars to rock climbing. CJ Barrymore is a place where you can go with both family and friends and have a good time either way. Children can have birthday parties here on one side of this attraction or adults can go out for a drink on the other side of the attraction. I know many schools that take students on field trips here, which would be a blast in my opinion (this is better than going to any museum I tell you). Many of the attractions here depend on the weather and are usually opened in the spring and summer (when the weather is nice). These attractions may include batting cages and the go karts. The hours of operation are included on their site http://www.cjbarrymores.com/hours.php. However, CJ Barrymore does not really stay opened past 12 am on the weekends, but there is still a lot of time to enjoy yourself. Have a night full of fun and laugher while you are playing games then enjoy some drinks or food here at CJ Barrymore.

Dave and Busters
There is a chuckie cheese sort of place for adults… Dave and Busters! Well that is how I view it. Dave and Busters is filled with games and entertainment and even food! It might not have that awesome chuckie cheese pizza we all might love, but they have yummy adult food. Plus, most meals come with a game card at least worth $10 to play with. So you can eat and play for less than $20. Dave and busters is located on hall road right after van dyke. It is opened late enough for people to go after work or such else. On the weekends, it is opened until 2 am! On Wednesdays, all games are half off!!! That means you can have twice as much fun without spending more money. There is also an area where you can dine and have a nice dinner. Let me mention there is an area for those enjoy playing pool. Dave and busters is a non-smoking facility now, which I love!! When I was younger my family and I would come here all the time and have a great time. By the end of the day we would walk away with so many great prizes. Now a days, I happen to go with friends and I still have a great time, however, we are not so good at winning as many tickets as I did with my family, so our prizes are still nice just not as great. If you feel like you are getting too old to play at chuckie cheese, then you should try going to Dave and Busters where you will find more people who are your age, trust me you will feel more comfortable in this type of environment.

Campus Martius Downtown Outdoor Ice Skating Rink
Now for an attraction we can do for this time of the year would be ice skating! And of course, the best way for someone to ice skate would be to ice skate outdoors! Here in our downtown area we have an Outdoor Ice skating rink. Ice skating can be tricky, but it a lot of fun even if you are not so good at it. The outdoor scenery is the best part! You feel the actual coldness and you see the snow falling or on the ground (if you go on an appropriate day). You can a great time when you go with a group of friends or even on a date. There is always someone skating around with flowers, so if you get lucky someone can buy you a rose and hand it to you while you ice skate. This attraction is a good social and fun attraction to visit. You come across meeting a lot of people who are also there to have fun. The nice part is that it is downtown so once you’re done ice skating you can go out for a nice dinner. There is actually a Big Rock Cafe right next door, and let me just say this place has amazing burgers! This time of the year is the perfect time to visit this attraction.

Red Oak Wavepool
A sunny summer day sounds very nice right now… well I guess we have a while for that to come along, but when it does we should keep in mind the one and only Oakland County’s Red Oak Wave pool Waterpark. This is located on 13 mile between Dequindre and John R. Road (right next to the Meijer). This destination is for all ages… for family fun or for those hanging out with friends. Most of my friends and I were here whenever we weren’t working on a hot sunny Sunday! The waterpark provides a pool, which actually has current waves every 15 minutes or so. It’s a lot of fun to experience, but I tend to stay away from the deep end since the water seems to take over on that end. But lucky for us, there are tubes for us to hang on to or lay on, which is great when the waves are happening. There are also water slides that are fun and exciting. My favorite part however, is the lazy river! I think most people who have been to this attraction agree with me. You are just basically being lazy in a tube and let the water current push you down the river, you are really being lazy at this point and that is the best part. You can enjoy a swim and have a nice lunch with those you are with. There is an area where picnic tables are set up or for those who don’t mind as (like me) there is lots of grass area to lay your towel down and eat whatever you brought! This place is also a good place to get that nice summer tan as well. This waterpark is full of fun and excitement for anyone who is willing to visit.

DTE Energy Music Theater
DTE Energy Music Theater is actually a branch off the Palace of Auburn Hills. This music theater is also very close to Oakland University’s Campus! This campus is used for concerts and shows. Drake had a concert here not too long ago and might I add it was amazing. It was only $15 a ticket for Oakland students and they could bring up to one guest for also $15. I believe other tickets for non-students ranged from $15 (lawn seats)- $30 for regular seats. I took my boyfriend and we had a great time. Many other concerts have occurred at this theater as well, such as Rhianna (which I also went to with my girlfriends and had an amazing time)! Kayne and Jay-Z also have a concert here next weekend November 26, for those of who are fans. This music theater is an outside theater, however, the stage and the front seats are covered with a roof, while the seats further back are opened with no roofing… I think this is great for the summer or for the nice days! However, I have never been to a concert or show in the winter so I am not sure if they cover up the opened areas due to snow or if they cancel the show? I tried to look it up, but did not come up with an accurate answer. Snow during a concert kind of sounds a little tempting?
The Palace of Auburn Hills
The Palace of Auburn Hills is not too far from Oakland University (just drive a few miles north on the I-75 express way). This facility has been opened and has been functioning since August 1988. This beautiful facility is used for entertainment and sports usage. Most of us living here in the Metro-Detroit area have been to the Palace, either for a Pistons’ basketball game or for a entertainment purposes such as concerts, shows, etc. Let’s go back to who the Pistons are for those who are not familiar… they are our very own Detroit NBA team! The games are held here in Auburn Hills at the Palace. What I think is cool is that the Pistons basketball team is the only team not played in the Detroit area (not to say many attempts have occurred to move the Pistons downtown with the other sports, but it has not worked). However, this year we have not seen a basketball game because of the NBA lockout, but let’s just hope that changes soon! The Palace is known for the home of the Detroit Pistons!! This facility also holds many functions for entertainment purposes. This can include concerts (Britney Spears or Enrique or even Lady Gaga from my experience) or shows (Disney on Ice or comedy shows). Other functions that occur at the Palace are wrestling sports or even college basketball. Let me mention Oakland University’s College Basketball team will be playing U of M on Saturday December, 10th. Tickets seem pretty fair ($15 for general admission, $25 for reserved seats, and $35 for VIP seats). It would be nice these two basketball teams play against one another (at least there is going to be some basketball action occurring at the Palace)!
